Lives Saved by Helmets
While, in some cases, it may be legal to ride without a helmet. It just doen't make sense to ride without one. If everyone wore their helmet about 50% fewer motorcyclists would die every year (table below).
In addition to helmets, motorcyclists should also use protective clothing such as gloves, jackets, boots, and long pants. Even a minor collision or loss of ballance can leave a rider scraping pavement. Protective clothing can mean the difference between being uninjured, having serious roadrash or worse.
