Taking DIP for a traffic ticket? Get your court’s permission before enrolling and confirm that an online course is accepted for your case. Eligible drivers may use DIP to avoid point assessment when authorized by the court.
How Missouri’s Driver Improvement Program works
- Confirm court permission. Ask the court handling your ticket whether you qualify for DIP and whether it accepts this online course.
- Enroll online for $24.95. Select the court-related course purpose and enter the requested student and court information.
- Complete the eight-hour course. Work through the lessons, quizzes, and final exam. You can stop and resume with your progress saved.
- Submit your completion paperwork. After successful completion, receive your Missouri Form 4444 and follow the court’s and Missouri Department of Revenue’s submission instructions and deadlines.
DIP can help eligible drivers avoid point assessment for an authorized violation. Enrolling alone does not dismiss a ticket, erase a conviction, or automatically remove existing points.
What is included in the $24.95 course price?
Your course price includes instruction, the final exam, and processing. Learn with comedy videos, audio, and practical lessons on traffic laws, defensive driving, hazard awareness, and sharing the road.
Taking defensive driving for an insurance discount?
Check with your insurer before enrolling to confirm that it accepts this course and offers a discount for your policy. Select the insurance purpose at registration. You receive an insurance completion certificate, and no court details are required. Discounts are determined by your insurer.
Missouri DIP and defensive driving questions
Is this an approved Missouri Driver Improvement Program?
Yes. Comedy Safe Driver is an approved Missouri Driver Improvement Program provider, OL029. For a traffic ticket, you must also confirm that your court authorizes DIP and accepts an online course for your case.
Is Missouri DIP the same as defensive driving or traffic school?
Driver Improvement Program (DIP) is the official Missouri program name. Defensive driving and traffic school are broader terms; not every course using those names is an approved Missouri DIP course. If your court requires DIP, choose an approved DIP provider and follow your court’s instructions.
How long is the Missouri online DIP course?
This is an eight-hour course. Complete it online on your phone, tablet, or computer. You can log out and resume later; your progress is saved. Self-paced access does not remove the required course time.
Will DIP dismiss my ticket or remove points already on my license?
Do not assume that completing DIP dismisses your ticket or removes existing points. With court authorization, eligible drivers can use DIP to avoid point assessment for the authorized violation. Ask your court what completing DIP will mean for your particular case.
Do I need court permission before taking the course?
Yes, if you want to use DIP to avoid points for a traffic ticket. The court decides eligibility case by case. Confirm permission, online-course acceptance, and your deadline before enrolling.
What is the deadline to complete Missouri DIP?
The Missouri Safety Center states that DIP must be completed within 60 days of your guilty plea. Confirm your court’s instructions and any earlier deadlines for completing the course or submitting paperwork.
Can CDL holders use DIP to avoid points?
The Missouri Safety Center states that this program is not available for violations committed in a commercial motor vehicle or for drivers holding a CDL from Missouri or another state. Motorcycle violations require an approved motorcycle-rider training course instead.
What certificate do I receive?
After successful completion of the court-related course, you receive Missouri Form 4444. Follow the court’s and Department of Revenue’s submission instructions. Students who select the insurance purpose receive an insurance completion certificate.
